Shadow
8 July 2012: Shadow is already 8 months old. He is still very fascinated with climbing; he became an expert at manouvering around branches in his tree and loves it when we hide his toys there to find. He is becoming very comfortable with his collar and lead with the help of Intern Melissa who is training him to walk on the lead for 2 hours a day. Shadow is a very spoilt little leopard who loves attention and looks forward to curling up in people’s lap for a snuggle. At night-time he enjoys chicken or ribs, and by morning is squealing out for some playtime.
25 April 2012: Exciting news! A 5 month old Black Leopard Cub (pictured above) named Shadow has arrived at the Park. Shadow is a very sweet, confident baby- he spends his days outside in the old Caracal enclosure, where our leopards, Louis & Ella used to stay when they were young cubs and at night time goes to Or’s house where he has his dinner and gets to run around and play with the dogs. He has decided that his favourite place in the house is the fold out sofa bed in the spare bedroom where he takes all his toys (which he steals from the puppies) and food (raw chicken). Once he is done playing he comes and cuddles on the couch and when it’s bedtime he goes back to his crib. Come morning time he lets us know he is awake and ready to be let out by squeaking in his high pitched voice and then the day starts all over again.
